"Transitioning from BA to PO", by Greta Blash
5pm to 6:30pm PDT — Pacific Daylight Time, UTC -7 hours...
As we all are aware, one of the key resources for agile projects is the Product Owner, who represents the customer. They should understand the current way things are done, the vision of the future – and have the authority to make decisions to make that transition from the “as-is” to the “to-be”.
Unfortunately they are often entrenched in the current ways and are not willing to challenge the status quo – and often not even aware of options. In many cases, the :legitimate: product owner is not available full-time to support the team and the business analyst is often required to step in and fulfill this role.
One of the key skills of a Business Analyst enables the analysis of the current situation and question how and why things are being done currently. This allows them to see discrepancies, rules that are no longer being followed, as well as opportunities for improvements. Through this analysis they can support the Product Owner achieve the vision as well as providing the detail needed by the delivery team to support the “Definition of Done”.
This session will include information on the new CPOA certification from IIBA.
