Dr. Anthony J. Rhem: The Business Analyst Role in Developing AI Solutions
The intent of AI is to enable computers to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, as such AI will evolve to take many jobs once performed by humans. AI in the late 1980’s through the late 1990’s was identified as a multidisciplinary science, which included expert systems, neural networks, robotics, Natural Language Processing (NPL), Speech Recognition and Virtual Reality. This multidisciplinary aspect of AI enabled AI to make inroads into industries such as healthcare, financial, automotive, manufacturing, and the military. The most recent focus on AI is concerned with the implementation of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Machine Learning (ML) Algorithms. The Business Analyst (BA) will play an important role in the successful implementation of AI Solutions.
Business Analysts (BAs) are responsible for bridging the gap between IT and the business, developing the business case, capturing requirements, and delivering data informed recommendations to project managers, executives, and stakeholders.
BAs must articulate business needs of AI solutions, while working with the solutions team to balance what’s technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable.
The BA acts as a crucial connector between the business and technical domains, ensuring that AI solutions not only are technically sound but also deliver tangible business value. In the age of AI, it is critical that the BA has a holistic understanding of the business landscape, combined with a grasp of AI capabilities, allowing them to guide AI projects towards success. This presentation will discuss how the Business Analysts (BAs) play a pivotal role in the development of AI solutions and breakdown their role and responsibilities in this domain.
Key Attendee Benefits:
• Understand the BA’s Role and Responsibilities in AI Development.
• Understand the Skills necessary for BA’s to be effective in AI Development.
• Understand what deliverables the BA is expected to contribute to and produce for an AI Solution to be effective.
In the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) development, Business Analysts (BAs) occupy a central position. Their primary role is to liaise with stakeholders to comprehend business objectives and pinpoint areas where AI can be instrumental.
